Write a review for the D-Link AirPlus G 802.11g Wireless LAN USB Adapter here!
We purchased 5 of these units and all 5 of them were problematic from the onset. None of them could maintain a connection for more than 10 minutes; once the connection was lost, some connected immediately, others took 15 minutes. The only solution for this seems to be to disable the Zero Wireless Configuration service on our XP systems and use D-Link's configuration utility instead. We use several adapter brands at our offices, this is a first. Next problem, there are no drivers for this model (revision C1) on either the D-Link USA or UK websites. Good luck trying to install the adapter if you happen to be without the installation CD. Good luck also trying to connect BT routers; we have several sites where we could not use these wireless adapters even though we managed to connect with adapters from other brands (including Apple Airport.)
I bought this with a Dlink router. I have a new PC running Vista and the adapter drops the internet connection every few minutes or freezes the PC or gives a BSOD which refers to the driver file. In theory I have the latest drivers. This is an out of date model - avoid it!
I spent all day wrestling with this, trying to get a mac mini without an airport card onto my network.
The signal was strong enough for my PowerBook to find but but this adapter struggled to find it and when it did would often see it but not let me connect. I tried downloading an alternative driver and had no more sucess.
Thankfully a fairly cheap mistake and I shall now purchase something more expensive but hopefully more reliable.
I got one of these and it has been nothing but trouble. To start with it would never connect on boot up unless I physically removed the device and replugged it back in again. The same thing would happen if the wireless signal was lost. Besides that since I was having trouble with the setup, I used a simple security password. Then when I changed it, the adapter would not reconnect at all. I have had none of these problems with a BT USB wireless adapter. You have been warned - its not worth it at ANY price.
