Write a review for the Dynamode Extra 2.5in or 3.5in Hot Swap Hard Drive Tray for SATSASBAY3BK here!
Enclosure is OK, but could be used only for the drives with less than 80GB capacity - it would be helpful, if this info will be added to the description section.
Had it working within a couple of minutes (WinXP)literally plug and play.
I have to say, when I opened the box I was gutted! I was hoping for the SATA version, but then after checking my order, it was my own fault for ordering IDE.
No matter, I have a 2.5" IDE drive to play with, so hooked it together and plugged into my PC.
To be honest for the price I wasn't expecting much, but I have to say i was pleasantly surpised.
Flawless.
Hmm, now to buy another one for SATA!!! :)
Although some have had probs according to the reviews, for me this caddy is excellent.
It's well built aluminium, includes everything you need in terms of physical hardware, and works perfectly on my laptop.
Hard to think how they could do better with this, and for the price it's absolutely incredible.
Fitted an old (known to be working) 30GB laptop drive, plugged it in to a PC: XP recognised it as a USB mass storage device and allocated a drive letter. Tried again with single USB connection: no problem. I suggest the twin USB is where a single (laptop) USB port cannot provide the power. Bargain price.
Excellent, very robust no set-up problems just plug in and go.
Bought 6 other USB cases and they were patchy in use at best. This model worked first time with all the drives that I had a problem with.
I have bought 2 of these. First one (6 months ago) came with a cable that had 2 USB plugs, to enable it to get power from 2 USB sockets - and worked perfectly on a laptop. The second I bought recently had a single headed cable, (and different socket at drive end- so I could not use cable from previous one), and could not get enough power from laptop unless I used a POWERED USB2 hub. Apart from that restriction, it works perfectly, just like the first one did.
East to install and it just works, though you will need to use up TWO USB ports in order to get enough power for the HD.
No PSU suppluied even though packaging stated that its supplied with one.
Looks ok and works fine (its an external box and what it should!!), screw driver for the screws was the wrong size, and they could have included a couple of thin sheets of padding to stop hdd rattling in ur hand but apart from that its ok as its making use of the 80Gb Seagate drive I just pulled out of my mini file server. Although on my Samsung X05 and Mac Pro laptop I have to boost the power i.e. use 2 ports but on three other normal PC's its been fine, hdd rated at 0.42amp.
