Write a review for the D-Link 2-Bay NAS Network Storage Enclosure here!
Irritating start as supplied 'easy search' utility found unit but wouldn't do anything further. Webbed into it directly and could proceed to format as raid 1, then updated to latest firmware. Only potential drawback for my XP PCs is the ext2 filesystem - but there is Windows freeware available (link on D-link website, look in tech support for DNS-323, faqs)to read ext2 drives directly with a Windows system and a SATA-USB connection lead can be had for a few quid so that's do-able if neccessary. Overall an excellent, very neat bit of kit. Easy to hide so should keep your data burglar proof. Used 2x250Gb Samsung drives, no probs there, very quiet.
Installed Western Digital 160G SATA drives with out the need for tools; one was not recognised although both were identical?!. Swapped them over and both were then mounted. Software is easy to configure but a little buggy. Needs reboot about once in 2 weeks when the unit goes 'deaf' and doesn't respond. Recommend upgrade to latest firmware.
Used to love it but after one of the two disks failed, upon opening the box I found both disks were extremely hot. The inch sized fan at the back is not capable of keeping it cool. I would avoid unless you want melted disks
Used with 2 x WD sata disks.
Easy to setup, but kept losing connection with the enclosure.
Would not re-connect every time and would even disappear completely from the network. As a result was not safe to be used as a NAS. (even with its Raid capabilities)
Very poor indeed...
