Excellent bit of kit, easy to install and easy to use. Is abit expensive though, also havent had chance to test it on vista yet. Excellent Dabs service as per usual!
In conjunction with a D-link DIR-655 router I've not had any problems or disconnections, so the connection is reliable for me. Its not a massive improvement over 54g,gaming pings and range but max bandwidth is in the hundreds rather than tens of Mb.
Had to play with netstumbler and twiddle the antennas to get the best out of it on both the router and NIC.
Basically I wouldn’t upgrade an entire network to N if I already had G and it was working fine, but these N products are a real world improvement or if you are a sucker for new-Tech(like me) or if extra wifi encryption is needed.
Note this card is fairly large and may not fit in a low riser PCI slot(e.g. HTPC).
I bought this, along with DIR-635 router and DWA-643 notebook adapter.
Installation of the drivers was not the most staightforward, but I got them installed.
Under XP it works like a dream, blistering fast transfers transfers between the 'N' enabled equipment and no drop-outs where previously wireless was a pain.
I then bought a new Vista desktop and decided to put the adapter into this. FORGET IT. There are no Vista drivers. After several emails to D-Link, who keep promising Vista drivers 'soon', They eventually pointed my to their Swedish site who had released drivers. Downloaded these and still no joy. BSOD's.
D-Link don't seem to develop their own frivers, relying on the chipset manufacturers. This is a great pity as this works under XP. D-Link, bow your head in shame.
